Project Description

Holden Torana A9X

The model we have is the A9X Nationals Grand Champion 2008 and 2009 and in 2018 best A9X at the Torana Nationals in Canberra.

We are informed that the original owner previously owned an L34 Torana which was written off in a car accident. The insurance company paid an amount sufficient for the original owner to acquire this car retaining the written off car. After only a few months the owner was dissatisfied with the performance of his car with the newly introduced emission controlled L31 engines and after taking advice swapped the engine to the superior L34 engine from his written off car. According to the A9X Club of Australia, A9X Toranas raced with that engine configuration at Bathurst. Although no cars left the factory in that configuration.

The car is claimed to be personally delivered by Peter Brock at the GMH Bundaberg dealership. We have not been able to verify this claim and when Bev Brock was asked about this matter last year at the Torana Nationals she declined to commit and indicated that Peter was well known to sign books and memorabilia for fans. It is claimed that over 3,000 hours of work went into this fastidious restoration in Tasmania – details verified by the restorer and Torana enthusiast Glen 0409797919 who has volunteered a lot of information regarding the history of the vehicle.

The Hand books were signed by Peter Brock on delivery.

Delivered originally in Queensland, then sent to Tasmania for complete overhaul and restoration. The car was then sold after its concourse and show wins to an owner who did not actually take delivery! The car was sold again to enthusiast Rob Pannini in WA.

We become the privileged ACT owners buying the car on recommendations and without the need for an inspection. It’s our pride and joy!
